10 reasons to train as a surveyor

We asked some existing CHKS surveyors to tell us why they enjoy being a part of the accreditation process and why they would encourage others to train as a surveyor themselves:

1. Share your experience and expertise with a variety of different health and social care organisations for the benefit of patients and staff.

2. Help other organisations to identify and celebrate great work and innovation in all kinds of health and social care settings.

3. Develop your own critical analysis and presentation skills.

4. Take time out of your day job to reflect on your own practice and what you could do differently.

5. Enjoy the privilege of visiting a wide variety of diverse health and social care organisations.

6. Spend time in different specialties other than your own and recognise the contribution of each and
every department.

7. Take the good ideas back into your own department to improve the quality of management and care you provide.

8. Enjoy meeting with different health and social care professionals and being part of a cohesive, multidisciplinary team.

9. Enhance your career development with the chance to visit international hospitals and understand different health and social care systems and cultures.

10. Help others to ensure that quality is recognised within their own health and social care settings.
