TOP STORY: Total readmissions within 30 days costing the NHS £1.6 billion
Researchers at CHKS have carried out an analysis of hospital readmissions within 30 days and found that the cost could be up to £1.6 billion. The figures show that of the 14.2 million discharges from hospital in the year 2008-09, in total 916,000 patients (just under 6.5 per cent) were readmitted within this limit. Download the report here.
